Ideas are often incubated and emerge through the confrontation with others. Do not stay in front of your microscope to be creative!
How does the metaphorical lightbulb go off? Is it a flash of genius? The power of crowds? These heady talks explore the nature of ideas themselves: Where they come from, how they evolve, and how each of us can nurture them.
This TED talk matches pretty well with the results of the research we have lead on creativity. See the 4 ingredients of creativity
Points I particularly like in this presentation:
– Having an idea is a neurone firing. It is new neuronal connections being built.
– Ideas do not emerge in front of a microscope, it rather happens while meeting people (e.g. philosophers café), or being stimulating by an environment.
– Ideas do not emerge from nowhere. They are often incubated. They are these questions to which we have no answers yet, but we always keep at the back of our heads
